Mistakes were made

I have become aware that New Music Box Posts no longer includes the post replies or the healthy debates between the bloggers which were part of the dialog at that time. So many of my replies which I saved myself are now without context, as sometimes I was replying to other replies not just the post itself. This action for whatever reason does not surprise me at all. The addition of “I care if you listen” into the NMB orbit spelt doom for malcontents such as myself. Only a monolithic user friendly culture and those who support it need apply. ICIYL states right up front they are only interested in user friendly music. The title itself is a straw man argument against serial music in general and Milton Babbitt in particular. Simply put: haters. Anyway, blog posts are publicity and ICIYL seems only concerned with what is happening now, which of course, will change. They are preservers not changers. I did appreciate their focus on people of color, though I thought it odd they all (in the posts I read) had to confess a classical musical dislike of some kind. Just to be clear there are few saints in any profession and the arts are no different then and today. I won’t excuse the bad actors, the point is that this is high school socialization; are we together because of what and who we dislike. Sigh. Note: I stopped reading “I care if you listen” years ago.

anyway

Perhaps the replies are saved in some archive somewhere. Or lost forever.

P. S. In my view training in composition is not racist, access to training is.

I believe I talked about this in my skilled artisan bubble post.

P.P.S. Welcome to my new site!!!
